'South Pacific Vessel Series'.
A series of pieces based on South Pacific coastal environments that, like the ocean, it's surrounds and inhabitants, is constantly evolving. Design, elements and textures reflect waves that wash upon the shore and the driftwood, shells and starfish that they leave behind.

'Outrigger vessel' 2000
Maple, Mulga, Copper, Metallic Thread, Acrylic Paint.

This piece is influenced by South Pacific outrigger Canoe sails. These triangular sails are made from woven fibre and suspended broad side up between two spars. The 'gills' represent the sharks that were taken for food revered for their strength

Water Flows

A series of pieces developed during the 2000 'International Turning Exchange' residency at The Woodturning Center, Philadelphia, USA. Influenced by the movement of water around in a river or tidal estuary. Turned on multiple centres, carved and textured to various stone and water  surfaces.
